What BF, GSM and deckle mean
GSM (grammage) is the weight of the paper in grams per square metre. A higher GSM means a heavier, thicker sheet.
BF (bursting factor) is a measure of strength. By the usual definition (bursting strength in kg/cm² × 1000 ÷ GSM), a 100 GSM sheet at 14 BF bursts at about 1.4 kg/cm², and at 16 BF at about 1.6 kg/cm². At the same GSM, a higher BF means stronger paper.
Deckle is the width of the finished paper. Ours is 220 cm.
Choosing between 14 BF and 16 BF
At the same GSM, 16 BF gives more strength than 14 BF. The right choice depends on what you make and how much load it has to carry.
